Quick Tips for your Company Newsletter

Looking for some ideas that will get your newsletter read? Look no further.  Sometimes companies have great newsletters and fun things that they provide in their newsletters but then others just don’t get read or worse, even opened. We put together quick tips for your company newsletter to boost your Open and Click-Through rates and get you ready to provide attention-grabbing content to your customers.

Write a unique and catchy subject line for every email

Don’t use the same subject line for each email or newsletter you send. “April Newsletter” is such a bore. Jazz it up with a hint of what’s inside or possibly something that is coming up in the next month.business-1067978_1920

It doesn’t have to be cutesy or some over-the-top description, just make it real.   Many times the over-the-top and really salesy type of subject lines get bypassed right away because they look too spammy. So go with facts and remember you are not trying to get everyone to open every email but rather everyone who is interested in a specific topic. This is why you want to catch their eye immediately with your Subject line.

Know which words work and which ones do not. These will vary but a list of typical words that work & do not work for email marketing are:

Track your open rates each month so you can see what subject lines work the best for your industry. Test ideas. Sometimes you can’t figure out which of 2 may work best. Test it out. Send one to half of your list and the other to the other half. See which the better option was. And remember to give a week or two before you tabulate all of your results between the two emails.

Include Industry News

Got something happening in your industry that is cutting edge? Keep your clients, members or employees informed. Show that you are current with industry trends and your readers will appreciate learning a few things as well.

Give ‘em a Fun Fact

Everyone loves a good random fun fact, why not make it one related to your industry. If you are in the fitness industry, try a health or fitness fact each month. The publishing industry?. Try a best-selling book or title in a genre or a tip on a famous author.

Link to your Blog & Webpage

Always provide content that will link back to your website, that is a given. But how about linking back to a great blog post that you have posted over the past month? Sometimes your readers are new to your newsletter and have never been to your webpage – take them there. Other times the regular readers of your newsletter may have missed a fabulous post that you feel is a must….take them there! You want to get click-through’s back to your page, (Stay tuned, we’ll have more on why you want this and why you should have great current content on your webpage).

Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to reach out to your customers/clients on a regular basis. A monthly newsletter is a great way to do this, and if you’re afraid of running out of ideas, just use one of these ideas whenever you get stuck!
